The Evolution of Consciousness

See beyond the obvious and raise your personal awareness to reveal what normally remains hidden from view.

Hello all,

It has been a while since I've posted to my blog, BlogNostra here at JosephRiggio.com. Lots of reasons for this, but the most significant may be the time I've been putting into revising and refining my thinking about the basic models I work from with clients.

Essentially the basic model I operate from has a few consistent characteristic biases. Yet with all that remains constant and consistent I find myself reorganizing and updating significant aspects of the model. All of the biases of the model are about aspects relating to how we do the work within the model. Where I've been placing my attention most recently has been on what to be doing when we work within the model.

The distinction between how and what defines a critical aspect of the working model. Within this model we always begin from WHAT ... as in "What do you want?" and later "What do you want to be doing?"

We do not organize around the HOW except to insure that our clients are building the resources the need to succeed. Even then we maintain a completely open position around HOW specifically, with options available based upon a constant updating in relation to the system.

CONSCIOUSLY EVOLVING ...

In the work we do the idea of consciously evolving resides in the center of the model. This idea drives where I put my attention when I am working with clients.

The more someone becomes consciously evolved, the more elegant and capable their performance becomes as well. As their consciousness becomes highly evolved they become more aware, more open, more transparent to the system as a whole. A way forward opens that would be closed to all others ... yet to them the way becomes obvious.

Consciousness evolves in a pattern. The essence of the pattern revolves around awareness, first self-awareness, next interpersonal awareness, then systemic awareness and onto transpersonal awareness. The way I have modeled this pattern depicts seven distinct levels in the evolution of consciousness:

  • Level One - Aware of Limitations ... What's Lacking
  • Level Two - Aware of Fulfillment ... What's Present
  • Level Three - Aware of What's Happening ... "Here & Now"
  • Level Four - Aware of Others ... Interaction, Relationships
  • Level Five - Aware of Systemic Space ... Impact
  • Level Six - Aware of Systemic Time ... Consequences
  • Level Seven - Aware of the Transpersonal ... Intentionality
  • What we do in our work leads through these levels sequentially and systematically. First through an exploration of immediate experience we help you to locate yourself in this pattern of conscious evolution. Then we begin to establish a foundation to operate from that organizes around your being at your best - a new baseline position. Only then from this baseline we begin a formal targeting process that establishes the desired outcome position. This position moves from wholeness to wholeness, beginning from works. The entire process has a radically different bias to it in relation to more typical approaches to performance enhancement.

Most approaches seek incremental improvement, some even claim transformational change ... yet what they focus on most often are the what does not work ... the problem state ... and seek to create the desired outcome leading from the limiting position. There are of course those that do orient towards the positive state, yet they often reference only the past ... what has worked and seek to replicate that ... or direct the attention inside ... using contemplative protocols.

We start from the positive state ... what works now then we immediately begin again by directing the attention outward ... towards what will be working going forward. Building an exquisite external awareness upon a foundation of profound internal awareness generates a bias to action. Instead of endlessly peering inward and working upon one's self, the model orients you outwards to taking action in the world and noticing the effect and impact that resonates both out from you and in back to you.

Those who develop the ability to hold simultaneous multiple perspectives gain an elite intuitive advantage. These people become aware of the impact of their actions throughout the system through both space and time. The systemic consideration opens the possibility of acting generatively, creatively ... rather than reactively.

The person who holds a position of multiple perspectives not only confidently moves into the future, but participates in building futures as well.
