Hi and Welcome,

This is the inaugural issue of "Authentically Living" my weekly newsletter ... thanks for making it possible by signing up to receive it.

I know that might sound strange to some of you ... thanking you for making this newsletter possible, but it's true.

I'm a fan of the late Dr. Peter Drucker, former professor at the Harvard Business School and renowned Management Guru. In 1959 - TRIVIA ALERT!: the same year I was born - he wrote "The Practice of Management." In that book he wrote about "the purpose of business." What he said was that "the purpose of business is not making a profit" instead he suggested that the purpose of business is "to make a customer."

I get this idea totally ... my "business" is all about you ... my customers and clients. You give me permission to exist as a business ... and my "business" is all about making sure I respond to what you want that I have to offer.

I actually wrote a short note to a colleague yesterday about this idea:

I get to do what I love - working with people to share with them the efforts of my fascination and in turn they get to learn something about exquisite performance and exquisite performers - but "all you all" make it possible for me to do this by being there for me to do it with ... THANKS!

1. Keeping Up WIth The Times - Terrorism, Terrorists and Terrifying ... The Attack On Our Minds!

I've written a lot about the idea of the attack on our minds this week in my blog, BlogNostra ( http://www.josephriggio.com/blognostra/ ). What I've been writing about has been the shift from being "terrorized" by the "terrorists" to considering how terrorism has become big business.

It only makes sense when you think about ... even the most "grass-roots" terrorism will be an expensive proposition beyond a "one-off" kind of strike. Prolonged and sustained terrorism takes significant funding. One of the questions we need to begin to ask would be, "Who's funding the terrorism?"

The In-Sanity and Terrorism Continue

For me this has to do with how we "allow" terrorists to exist and operate in our midsts. I've spent a lot of time laying out the "structure of consciousness" over the last ten years in my work. One of the most telling experiences for me was writing my doctoral dissertation on "transpersonal decision-making" - and what I found out was:

People are consistently accessing information that exists beyond the boundaries of personal awareness to build "intentional outcomes" in the future - both on their own and with others.

2: Re-Visiting "The Hero's Journey"

I'm revisiting in my own thinking the idea of "The Hero's Journey" as described by Joseph Campbell ...

I find myself more and more interested in what Joseph had to say in regard to how we build the descriptions about "what is real" that ultimately become real because we say so.

This idea that description and narrative form the basis for a large part of many people's reality aside from the actual, sensory and somatic, evidence can be startling when we consider it fully.

I actually addressed this idea in my response to Agnes to a comment she made to on a blog posting on BlogNostra.

3. How-To Build Connections With Others Effortlessly And Naturally ... A 1-2-3 Process That You Can Use Anywhere

Let me offer some ideas on how you can connect effortlessly and naturally with others - that go beyond the standard techniques of rapport building.

Going well beyond "Rapport":

1. Begin with your "Resonant Signal": First know yourself ... I mean really know what's important to you and what's important for you. This begins with knowing yourself at your best ... how you are "when you can't put a foot down wrong" as I like to say. This is so powerful because it's the basis for establishing your resonant signal ... what it will be about you that attracts others.
2. Notice for the "Resonant Signal"in others as well: This has to do with how people "hold" themselves - their natural orientation in the world. When you align to people's natural fascinations that are matched to what you too are naturally interested in your resonant signals will align as well. This simply means noticing for where others put their attention ... and letting go of wanting to be some other way long enough to go there with them ... THIS IS MAGICAL!
3. Decide who you actually want to connect with before you begin: This may sound obvious, but so many "rapport techniques" are about demonstrating a "likeness" that it can be overlooked in the desire and effort to connect with others. What I'm suggesting is for you to "pick and choose" based on what "matches and fits" for you first. If you're in a situation that requires you to be pleasant to someone, then be pleasant - but remain aware of you intentions and you natural way of being as you do. NEVER COMPROMISE YOURSELF TO MAKE A CONNECTION WITH OTHERS!

What makes this process so powerful and potent has to do with:

Holding your position ... while remaining open to the world, including remaining open to others.

Try connection this way ... from your center. You'll find you've gone beyond "rapport" ... "resonating" ... as you go!!!
