Hi and Welcome,
Welcome back to this edition of "Authentically Living" my weekly newsletter for the week of 10 September 2006.
This has been an interesting week ... that I can tell you all. It all began with knowing I had a task to face that I didn't particularly want to be doing at all ... but in the overall scheme of things had to get done. I also knew that when it came to getting it done I would do it.
What this had me thinking about was how I organize myself to do what needs doing ... and also how others who I know are extraordinarily able to organize themselves to get things done do it. So I wrote a couple of postings about that this week ...
I hope that you find the perspective I take on how to organize yourself so that getting the things done that you want to be getting done happen for you more naturally and effortlessly.
Also, I paid a tribute to Steve Irwin, the "Crocodile Hunter" who I hold as a personal hero of my ... what I referred to as a "larger than life character." Here's a man who made his life his work ... and as a result demonstrated to the world what it looks like when someone lives a life without compromise. I will always think of Steven Irwin when I think of what it means to have "impeccable character." I will miss him.

1. Secrets of Success In Life
I've been developing the Mythogenic Self Process model for over ten years now, and the number one question I get from folks about it the model is ... "What is the Mythogenic Self Process model?"
My first answer would be a bit flippant left to my own devices ... "That's like asking someone to hum a bit of their symphony for you." You know like, "Mr Beethoven would you hum a bit of your ninth symphony for me so I can tell if I'm going to like it?" ... "YEAH RIGHT!"
My next answer would be a bit less flippant ... "The Mythogenic Self Process is a bit like putting on a pair of glasses, that correct your view of the world instead of your vision." People are always interested in having "good vision" ... usually meaning that they "correct" their vision to 20/20. However, far less people pay attention to something I think is at least as important ... their view ... and very few people have a particularly good view of the world. Most people I meet spend a good deal of their time having a "bad view of the world" ... literally. They notice for "What's NOT Working."
The Mythogenic Self corrects this view of the world so that people have a "good view" of it. When they organize themselves in relation to the Mythogenic Self Process model they begin noticing for "What Works!" From this position they begin to more naturally and effortlessly generate the outcomes they want. I'd say this is where the "Secrets of Success In Life" begins ...

I spend a bit of time outlining how people who are well organized to get things done and get the results they want this week ... take a look:

I don't think that we have enough heroes in our world ... and not nearly enough "myth makers" ... but Steve Irwin was both in my book. I mean come on ... "The Crocodile Hunter" ... is that a great mythic form or what? I recall the comments of Joseph Campbell here:

2: Steps to Success
Most people think that there is some complex, magical formula to success. In fact what I've found is that the steps to success are actually quite simple ... in fact the simpler you make them the more successful you're likely to become.
When I was learning NLP (Neurolinguistic Programming) there was a model that was sometimes referred to as the 30 second NLP training:
1. Decide On Your Outcome
2. Sensory Acuity
3. Be Flexible
4. Take Action
This is an example of a concise and simple "success strategy." I think generally speaking it's a pretty good one as well. Of course the "trick" to this is that each step is in "code" ... meaning that you'd have to know what these phrases refer to and then how to execute each step. Still all in all it's a good example.
The steps to success I like to draw from are contained in the EPC2 - Exquisite Performance model. These for me represent the "steps to success."
1. Know your desire - what you want (not what you don't want)
2, Know what you expect (as opposed to what you want)
3. Collapse what you want and what you expect into a singularity (match your desires with your expectations)
4. Choose the process you're going to use to produce your outcome (knowing the "Next Step" is always enough)
5. Check the results your getting for direction ... i.e.: towards getting what you want (sometimes just getting things done can be enough)
There you go a simple five-step model to getting your outcomes. What you'll notice is that both the NLP model and the EPC2 model begin from establishing the outcome, the difference at the beginning is how the outcome is established. The NLP model presumes that you can just choose what you want - the EPC2 model presumes that unless your "desire" and "expectation" are in line with one another you'll encounter internal conflict in how you're organized ... and when your desires and your expectations are in conflict you'll always produce your expectations NOT your outcomes.
However let me make the model even simpler ...
1. Make sure you are organized in a "excitatory state," a positive point of view - or, noticing for possibility
2. "Like this ..." choose what you want in terms of your outcome
3. Do what comes up to be doing while you remain "Like this ..."
I really like that strategy for success. Simple ONE-TWO-THREE process ... and all of it built around what's absolutely in your control ... how you are organized internally as you take action in the world. The premise of this strategy is that how you are when you are considering what it is like to have what you want organizes the system to notice for what will produce the outcome associated with being organized "Like this ..." Then without seeming effort you begin doing things that naturally produce the outcome that is associated with the way you have organized yourself to be.
This turns most "performance models" upside-down. Most model presume that what you do will determine how you are ... this model presumes that how you are will determine what you will be doing. In both models there is a relationship that's accepted between doing and the outcomes generated. However, when you allow yourself to be doing what comes naturally and effortlessly from how you have organized yourself to be your outcomes also become natural and effortless as a result.
Give the model a try and let me know what you find out ...

3. What's Happening ...
I've got a couple of exciting things going on at the moment that I wanted to share with you:
First ... You will want to be in England with John LaValle and I for "Beyond Hypnosis ..." 12 - 15 October (that's Thursday thru Sunday) this is a once every few year event that John and I produce together and it is a fantastic program. If you are interested in the most sophisticated patterns of communication, influence and persuasion this is the program to attend. If you are a business owner, executive/manager, sales professional, trainer, consultant, coach, counselor, educator or parent you'll want to be there. If you are in a relationship ... or you want to be ... BE THERE! If you are not sure you get what is happening in the world today because you can't make sense of what's going on or the way the media is portraying what's going on ... YOU MUST BE THERE! This program will unwind the most complex and sophisticated patterns of language and non-verbal communication and make them simple for you ... JUST BE THERE! Get the full details here:
You are still eligible for the deepest discounts in this program, get all the information about it and an application now ...
Next, I've come out from the woodwork in the month of October because in addition to the "Beyond Hypnosis ..." workshop above I'm also presenting the only MythoSelf Advanced Workshop I'm running this year (and I'm unlikely to do it again anytime soon ...) This training really takes you beyond the basic patterns of the Mythogenic Self Process model ... not replacing them or redefining them, but rather it organizes the basic premise of the Mythogenic Self Process model into an embodied form. You'll learn exactly what you do that interferes with you getting your outcomes and how to get beyond that limiting position. In spite of knowing how to access your best state you must be able to run it in relation to doing things if you expect to get what you want ... this is exactly what you'll spend three days learning in the MythoSelf Advanced Program.
I"ll be taking you deep into the somatic structure of your movements and automatic responses. When you're about to begin something and find yourself stuck, or you are in the act of doing something and find yourself interrupted there is a pattern that you run ... we'll uncover and replace this pattern with one that is keyed into your outcomes ... a pattern you can and will gain control over and learn to run flawlessly. After this program you'll understand and be able to run your own performance patterns the way an Olympic athlete runs theirs.
Get the information and join me in Princeton, NJ 20 - 22 October 2006 ... you will be amazed at how much you'll come to know yourself in ways you haven't even know to consider over these three days ... not only will you be thrilled but it's likely that those around you will notice and comment on the change the minute they see you next ...

Finally, I'm also going to be in England later this month as well for a new program I'm going to be running with Peta Heskell, the" Flirt Coach" ... "Exquisite Relationships" ... check it out:
