Hi and Welcome,

Here we are beginning another week together. I find that the biggest "trick" in writing to an audience begins with having something to say. It seems a bit audacious to assume that not only do I have something to say, but that you'll also find it worthwhile to read ... everyday in my blog on my website, "BlogNostra" and again here in my weekly newsletter, "Authentically Living."

Yet, I to write I have to assume that you'll find what I'm writing worthwhile enough to read. This establishes a virtual relationship - in a sense this whole endeavor has to be a dialogue or a conversation that exists between us. I write and share my thoughts with you and in a sense when you read what I've written you share these thoughts with me.

On occasion I also have the pleasure of reading a note or comment from you as well. These notes and comments are extremely valuable to me and appreciated - every time someone takes the time to write back to me it verifies that you are out there reading. Also, I get to hear your thoughts about what I've been writing and that updates the entire stream of thought between us instantly.

"Yes there is a meaning; at least for me, there is one thing that matters - to set a chime of words tinkling in the minds of a few fastidious people."

I'm having a kick engaging with all'you'all in this way ... and I'm looking forward to hearing more from you in the future.

1. Shifting Our Perspective ...

I realize that I begin when I'm writing each day in BlogNostra from a position of "trust" - something I wrote about in today's blog posting, "Treating People Like Dogs" ...

____________________________________________________

Trust may be among the most misunderstood concepts out there ... many people presume that it points to an abdication of critical consideration in regard to someone ... I think it refers to a willingness to hold someone in high enough regard to accept them for who they are, and take in what they offer - while continuing to hold your own position without compromise.

____________________________________________________

This idea of "Zero Compromise" has been with me for as long as I can remember. I've been strongly pushing for people to consider the position they are operating from and holding that position without compromise, this past week I've added the idea of moving in patterns and waves:

Thursday: ( Keep It As Simple As Possible …)
Friday: ( Getting It Together)

You can read both at: BlogNostra

2: Re-Thinking Transformation - Part I

(Reprinted from "Path of Transformation")

The idea of transformation has captivated the minds of people from ancient times to the present day. The ability to transcend the conditions and even the context of what is experienced on an ongoing basis is a fantasy that most people engage in at some time in their lives. Whether they approach the idea of self-transformation seriously or or in passing the “idea” of it still catches them and captivates them … if only it were possible.

Transformation in Ancient Times

The ancients practiced transformation as an integral part of their lifestyles. In almost every aboriginal culture there are “standard” practices of transformation. These are almost always based on or in relationship to communing with nature or nature gods. The concept of the “Vision-Quest” practiced by Native Americans is an example of such a practice. The “Dreamtime” of the Australian Aborigines is another. The shamans of the European plains had their own methods, as did the African, Asian and Polynesian shamans, witch doctors, medicine men/women and so on and so on. In each of these cultures there was an “approved” and established way of making contact with that which was beyond one’s self, a connection with that which is greater than self.

These early cultures had “specialists” who were responsible for keeping the connection open and alive, and also for guiding others to make the connection for themselves. Those who displayed an ability or inclination to go beyond the domain and range of “normal” conduct and behavior were often singled out for this role and marked as “special” for their ability to travel in the domain of the gods. These are among those we today would label as “special” for their dysfunction or limitations.

The path of transformation became more structured and ritualized as time moved forward. The role of the shaman became superceded by the role of the priests and priestesses. The defining difference in these roles were in the world of priests and priestesses only the “chosen” and “consecrated” could make contact with the gods, and did so on the behalf of the others. No longer was it appropriate or common for each individual to expect to make this connection for and by themselves.
With this change the gods became “local” as opposed to “universal.” These were gods of a particular people and/or place, who had a special relationship with those people and that place. These gods often required submission, obedience and sacrifice. Again, this became the role of the priests and priestesses – to transmit and execute the laws of the gods, retain control of the submissive worshipers and preside over the sacrifice. “G-d” was now separate and apart from the people.
There remained cultures and sub-cultures who worshipped outside of the strict control and ordinance of the priest and priestess class. Groups who retained a sense of communion with their god or gods. These groups worshiped in communion with one another, with all those who joined in operating in the role of priest and/or priestess. Each individual was able and responsible for making a direct connection with their god or gods. These groups were often referred to as pagan.

3. Success Basics: Adopting An "Attitude"

I keep getting reminded to go back to the basics, beginning at the beginning so to speak ...

"Attitude" As An Angle of Approach:

1. How you view the world determines what you'll see: Many people think that "attitude" represents the way people "feel" or how they think about things. We often hear that that people have a "good attitude" or a "bad attitude" - referring to the way they think or feel about things. Yet the way I'm using the word "attitude" has more to do with the approach you take in life than how you think or feel about things around you.
2. Beginning from a decision to notice for "What's Working" establishes the basic "attitude" for success: While you may have little choice about how things happen around you ... as I say, "Life Happens" ... you always have a choice about how you perceive things regarding what they mean to you. When you choose to look for "What's Working" you'll notice how things look from a position of possibility.
3. Approaching things in terms of possibility will rearrange how you respond in the world : When you begin noticing for "What Works" and organizing in regard to possibility you will naturally find solutions and experience a creativity in your responses. One of the most powerful things you can do begins with operating out of a position of creativity - instead of being locked in old patterns of behavior and response, you'll have access to a whole new approach to things!

____________________________________________________

"Attitude" set the stage for operating more effectively in the world - especially when you get beyond the idea of thinking and feeling based on old patterns - choosing the approach you take makes all the difference, begin from noticing for "What Works" and you'll have access to untold amounts of creativity."
